I wonder at the stories you hold
in your outstretched arms and divine dress
what sights you have seen through time
what sighs you have breathed in musings
your skin weathered by age
strengthened by adversity
you have inspired writers and poets
musicians and religion
without a single word from your lips
I wonder if you are proud now
of the metamorphose of the sun folk
or if your leaves have dampened
with wilted sorrow from their fading light
as their roots are threatened to be torn
from a desiccated soil
Perhaps it is time to lay beneath the stars
and listen again to the mesmerizing sounds
of your wisdom and revelation.
